Raspberry Day was created by The Cavernoma Society in July 2018 and officially launched in September 2018 with the support of The European Federation of Neurological Alliances (EFNA) to raise awareness of cavernoma globally.
The 3rd Friday in September is now Raspberry Day because cavernomas look like raspberries.
We have been incredibly fortunate to have the support of JC Decaux from the beginning of our journey. They've donated billboard space every year for the week running up to Raspberry Day, meaning that we've raised awareness across UK train stations, shopping malls, roadsides, and Waitrose stores. This has proven invaluable. Please keep a look out for the billboards and take a photo if you can. We'd love to see your photos! In 2023 we have more than 150 billboards across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
Thank you to Lisa Goldapple who has helped us to create the billboard designs and starred in them the last few years.
You can help us to raise awareness of cavernoma on #RaspberryDay by holding a raspberry-themed event, asking your local school to hold a non-uniform day, sharing your story with us, or maybe even holding a bake sale? We can help! Get in touch and we'll send you merchandise and help you to organise an event! hello@cavernomasociety.org.uk
