Cavernoma on My Mind Garden

In 2023, the Cavernoma Society was proud to help design and inspire the “Cavernoma on My Mind Garden”, which was featured at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show.

The garden was created to bring the hidden world of cavernoma into the open, using nature and design to reflect the experiences of people living with the condition. Every element of the garden was carefully thought out to symbolise symptoms and emotions that members of our community shared with us.

  • Dark, shaded areas represented the uncertainty, fatigue, and hidden struggles that cavernoma can bring.
  • Bright, open spaces symbolised hope, resilience, and moments of clarity.
  • Twisting paths and layered planting reflected the complexity of the condition and the different journeys people face.
  • Restful seating spaces created a sense of community, calm, and connection – just as our charity aims to provide.

The garden offered visitors a chance to pause, reflect, and learn about cavernoma in a unique and powerful way. For us, it was more than a garden – it was a living piece of awareness-raising, turning the invisible into something people could see, feel, and connect with.

Being part of the Chelsea Flower Show allowed us to put cavernoma on the map in a whole new way, reaching audiences who may never have heard of it before. It was a beautiful reminder of how creativity, community, and awareness can come together to make something truly special.
